Supermarket Shakespeare

"a neat idea, cleverly executed, that puts theatre into real life and real life into theatre"
Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

Inspired by one of Shakespeare's sonnets, six performers create contemporary characters that have intertwining stories and these are performed all around the supermarket.

“I don't know when I've enjoyed a live performance so much, AND I could simultaneously shop - as a modern Mum, it was perfect.” Audience member

Supermarket Shakespeare is FREE to attend, no need to book, just show up and find the characters in the Vegetable Section.

"I loved watching the story flow from a Shakespearean sonnet into the madcap world of Sunday in a supermarket. William Shakespeare would have been chuffed"
Audience Member

Supermarket Shakespeare challenges the way we experience theatre and offers a free and unusual way for new audiences to engage. The show can be performed in any supermarket or even an outdoor or covered market.

"[Supermarket Shakespeare] is an act of generosity, and a quiet reminder that the milk of human kindness does not reside in the dairy section"
