Live Version: July 2018 - Evelyn Ward, Deptford

Audio Version: November 2018

Evelyn’s Roots tells the stories of people who have laid down their roots in Deptford over the last 400 years.

Meet Thankfull Sturdee, one of Britain’s first press photographers who was born on Evelyn Street, and help him capture images and stories of the celebrated and forgotten people who may have lived in the area.

Evelyn’s Roots blends fact and fiction to bring the remarkable history of these local streets to life.

EVELYN’S ROOTS is available as a free Audio walk around Deptford’s Evelyn Ward.

If you’d like to do the walk, it starts by the Mulberry Tree in Sayes Court Park (but you can also just listen to the stories from the comfort of your own home). It’s all downloadable on your smart phone. Plug in your headphones and you’re good to go. The whole thing takes approximately an hour and a half.

If you’re in the park follow the below map:

Listen to the AUDIO VERSION as you explore the Streets Deptford.

The walk should be listened to in order (Chapter 1 to 9). If you press play below it will automatically play them all.

Do keep an eye on the above map – a couple of places are tricky to find.

Streaming this amount of audio can use up a lot of battery, so it’s worth making sure you have  a good charge before you start.

But most importantly – We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.
