Statement on Black Lives Matter and the recent protests:

It has been an extraordinary few weeks for Britain and the world. We stand in solidarity with all our black artists, communities, friends and audiences, and will be reflecting on how we can ensure our platform is used for diverse voices to be amplified, diverse work to be shared and communities represented.

Our home borough of Lewisham is an extremely diverse part of London, and we have always tried to ensure that our work reflects this. We are proud of our connections with communities in the borough, and our work in bringing people together.

However we are aware that there is far more that needs to be done.

In the first instance, as a small organisation we rely on a pool of brilliant freelancers who often return to work for us on many projects. We have to be honest with ourselves and recognise that – especially in creative and technical positions – we have not got a very diverse list to call on. We would love to hear from a diverse range of talent who would be interested in working with us in any of the following areas: Designers (including costume), prop makers and wardrobe, stage managers, production managers, technical types, social media managers, freelance producers and marketing experts. Please drop us an email [email protected] and say hello.

We hold ourselves accountable to action on diversifying our workforce. We will seek external guidance on how we can better our recruitment processes, what succession plans or programmes we can put in place to enable more people of colour to rise to leadership positions within our company and companies like us.
